Acer Malaysia Introduces Iconia W4 Tablet

19 Dec

THE new Acer Iconia W4 comes preloaded with Windows 8.1 OS (32-bit), and is powered by Intel’s Bay Trail 1.8Ghz processor. It also features an IPS screen with a 1280 x 800 pixels resolution, and Zero Air Gap technology for improved display quality. It also weighs in at 415g and measures 10.75mm thin.

Acer claims the W4 has up to 10 hours of Internet browsing battery life, and the device also comes with MicroSD card reader, micro USB 2.0 and micro HDMI output. But there’s no USB 3.0 nor standard SD card slot as Acer says having these would make the W4 thicker and heavier.

The Iconia W4 has Microsoft Office Home & Student pre-installed so users do not need to hassle themselves of sourcing for the software elsewhere. The Iconia W4 is priced at RM 1,099. Optional accessories such as the screen protector (RM 49, available in glossy and matte), crunch cover for RM 99 and crunch keyboard for RM 199.

Fujinon XF10-24mmF4

FUJIFILM’S line-up of lenses continues to expand, with the company having announced its latest model, the Fujinon XF10-24mmF4 R OIS – a new wide zoom for its X-mount compact system cameras. With focal lengths equivalent to 15-36mm in 35mm format, the new Fujinon XF10-24mmF4 R OIS from Fujifilm has an optical formula that comprises 14 lens elements arranged in 10 groups, including 4 aspherical and 3 extra-low-dispersion elements. The lens features Fujifilm’s unique High Transmittance Electron Beam Coating to minimise ghosting, and boasts an iris diaphragm with 7 rounded blades. Its high-speed AF is achieved via its inner focusing system which drives smaller lenses in the middle or rear lens groups without moving the larger lenses in the front lens groups. Thanks to light weight internal lenses and the addition of a stepping motor, the XF10-24mm lens is also very quiet to use. It is expected to be available for sale beginning March 2014.

MotoGP 2014: Flyaway Races Rescheduled on Provisional List

15 Dec

The FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix calendar has been updated ahead of the 2014 season, with this latest version being published on Friday. In comparison with the earlier version of the provisional 2014 calendar, the Spanish event at Jerez is no longer Subject to Contract (STC).

Furthermore, there has been a reshuffling in the order of those races making up the late-season ‘triple-header’, which will now begin in Japan before moving on to Australia and Malaysia. Originally, the order was set as Sepang followed by the trip north to Motegi in Japan before Australia’s Philip Island and then back to Valencia for the traditional season finale.

The new race schedule will see Japan now become the first of the gruelling three weeks away, on October 12, before Philip Island a week after and Sepang in Malaysia as the final weekend of the flyaway trip.

The changes will cut the total distance the teams need to air-freight their equipment by thousands of miles, by flying a more direct route, and could be an important part of the decision.

The new Brazilian round remains as to-be-confirmed, with organisers giving the Autodromo Internacional Nelson Piquet until March 23rd 2014 to be up to spec.

The provisional 2014 calendar is as follows:

23 Mar – Qatar* – Doha/Losail

13 Apr – Americas – Austin

27 Apr – Argentina – Termas de Rio Hondo

04 May – Spain – Jerez de la Frontera

18 May – France – Le Mans

01 Jun – Italy – Mugello

15 Jun – Catalunya – Barcelona-Catalunya

28 Jun – Netherlands** – TT Assen

13 Jul – Germany – Sachsenring

10 Aug – Indianapolis GP – Indianapolis

17 Aug – Czech Republic – Brno

31 Aug – Great Britain – Silverstone

14 Sep – San Marino & Riviera di Rimini – Marco Simoncelli Misano

21 Sep – Aragon – MotorLand

28 Sep – Brazil (STH) – Brasilia

12 Oct – Japan – Motegi

19 Oct – Australia – Phillip Island

26 Oct – Malaysia – Sepang

09 Nov – Valencia – Ricardo Tormo-Valencia
