HRC clinches all 3 titles of 2017 in MotoGP

Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) has clinched all 3 championship titles on offer for the 2017 season, which are the rider, team and constructor with the conclusion of the series via the Valencia MotoGP race held at the Ricardo Tommi circuit in Spain last Sunday.

The Constructor’s title was clinched by HRC thru Repsol Honda’s Marc Marquez at Sepang 2 weeks ago via the Spaniard’s 4th place in the wet MotoGP race while the Team title was settled with teammate Dani Pedrosa’s 2nd victory of Sunday’s Valencia race together with Marquez’s 3rd place.

Finally, the rider’s title was settled by the Spaniard himself after his main rival for the 2017 championship, Ducati Course’s Andrea Dovizioso, crashed out (DNF) of the race while in third position. The Italian’s DNF had no effect on Marquez’s ability to retain his MotoGP title as the Spaniard only need to finish in the Top 11 position had the former won the race.

A 2nd, 3rd, 4th or below placing for Dovizioso means the title chase is already in Marquez’s favour regardless of the Spaniard’s finish in the Valencia race.
