About Me

I was born on October 8th, exactly in the middle part of Libra’s reign, making me a true Libran at heart. My interest in photography got me my first full-time job on July 1, 1984 as a junior news photographer at the defunct Straits Echo English tabloid in Penang. My 9 months’ experiences there were enough to secure me a position for a cadet photographer with the Penang office of the New Straits Times (NST) on January 15, 1987.

I left NST in December 1994. Never regretted my decision to leave as I believe I could do more wonders by capitalising on my knowledge in the technical aspects of cameras, lenses and the fundamentals of photography to make a difference locally.

Some of you may remember me as the person behind the numerous articles on “Photography the EOS Way” hosted by Canon Malaysia’s website from 1998 till 2003.

After my stint there, I was asked to help establish a bi-monthly local English language photography mag known as Advanced IMAGES, which I did for almost 4 years.

After I left the magazine, I was head-hunted to be the editor of another new local photography title, Digital Camera Malaysia, which made its debut in January 2006. I was the editor of this publication until its 50th issue, and left to do something exciting online, like blogging, for example.

This blog is mostly about things I see from my own perspective and covers anything under the sun, with special emphasis on matters related to cameras and photography. It will be presented in a candid and informal way, to make for interesting readings. Feel free to disagree in a friendly manner on the opinions should any of you disagree with them.
